DUCKS IN A ROW

Despite my misgivings, agony and general bummed-out-ness over how some aspects of my interview went yesterday, I am estatic to report that I have been given the job, starting in January. I am over the moon, doing cartwheels and every other cliche you can think of to describe generally being bloody happy! I finally feel like things are falling into place, that the deep dark mire of being perpetually broke is drawing to a close. I keep thinking  "This time next year...." I might be able to do so and so or such and such a thing. I might be able to actually Afford Christmas presents rather than having to make them. Not that making them is a bad thing, in fact I am actually quite looking forward to it, bit it would be nice to do it out of choice rather than necessity and because my mother has forbidden me to buy anything! I'm just so excited, for me the New Year really will bring New Beginnings.

Has anybody else had good news today?? I would love to hear from you if you have. Today is a day for celebration!

A MASSIVE THANK YOU...

This post is long overdue, really I just wanted to say a huge and heartfelt thank you to the few people who created the following blogs:

Shabby Blogs

TCBOTB

Artemisa Blogs & Web

These blogs really helped me when I was setting up Painted Stars. As a complete dunce when it comes to anything computer related, I found that the tutorials and the generous freebies on these sites really helped me to wrap my head around the ins and outs of setting up a blog. I really couldn't have doen it without them and I would strongly reccommend anybody who wants to set up their own blog to take a look!

YOU GOTS TO LOVE WEDNESDAYS!

I'm not going to lie, I have had a pretty awful day today. It started out with a two and a half hour interview and ended with me missing my train home and having to wait an extra half an hour in the freezing cold. O.K, so maybe not the worst day in the grand old scheme of things, I could probably be a bit more optimistic and say that my day was middling to average- the interview wasnt a total disaster.. fingers crossed, and I was actually with a friend when I missed the train so it wasn't  such a hardship however, it all has got me thinking about what a Blah day Wednesday is!

What is exciting about Wednesday? As far as the days of the week go, I think Wednesday has to be one of the most boring ones. In fact, search Wednesday on Google and it generally comes up listed as the worst day of the week. Clearly Saturday and Sunday are exciting 'woop woop' days where we can indulge in getting up late, watch as much t.v as we want and generally do as we please, Friday is all about the anticipation of having two whole days of doing the above! Monday might not be the best day but at least it's interesting, gives us something to moan about and we get to catch up with friends/colleagues and share our news from our afore-mentioned beautiful 2 days of freedom.  Which leaves us with Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, the three duller days of the week.  Now, you may disagree with me here, but I quite enjoy a good Thursday every now and again. Thursday is the day that I start getting excited about the weekend and when someone says "it's Friday tomorrow!" it instantly makes me very happy! I find Tuesday also doesn't really bother me either as I am still fresh from the weekend.

But Wednesday.... as I said, Wednesday is just such a bland day. In fact, it has even been nick-named 'hump-day' which is to say, a hump to get over before reaching Thursday and the build up to the weekend. Now, what is ever exciting about a hump? Even the word 'hump' is bland and boring! A bland word to describe a bland day.

Now, at this point my lovely readers will point out that this blog post is entitled 'You gots to LOVE Wednesdays'- emphasis on the Love (hence the capitals.) Which brings me nicely to the point of this whole post- thank you readers for putting me back on track! I think it is time to give Wednesdays a make-over! Make it the new favourite day of the week! Maybe one day someone will say 'It's Wednesday tomorrow' and we could all cheer to that. Its time to replace Wednesday Woe with Wednesday Woo!

So here is a list of great things that happen on a Wednesday, just to get the celebration started.
  • Orange Wednesday! the one day of the week we can actually afford the cinema!
  • Wednesday: Midweek Lottery- Become a millionaire!
  • Wednesday is the best day of the week to buy aeroplane tickets! planning a holiday is always exciting!*
  • Wednesday is also the best day to move house- anyone ready for a new life chapter? can't argue that that is boring!*
  • Wednesday is the best day to get married! Enough said!*
  • Wednesday is the best day for a pay rise- more money, more fun **
  • Best day to go shopping- sign me up!**
So now it's time to start looking forward to Wednesday, buckle up and lets start the party! What do you like to do on Wednesdays?

A party isn't a party without lanterns!

REFUSE TO GET THE MONDAY BLUES

A blue sky trapped in a muddy puddle
As Sunday is winding down, I just thought I would pop in to say hi to all my avid readers - (hello sis) and wish you a Fab week at work or at school. Whatever you may be doing, I hope you stay safe and own a working umbrella. Unlike me.

THE CUPBOARD IS BARE..

I realise that my Kitchen Play page is shockingly bare- i.e there is nothing on it, but I promise to rectify this soon. Not only do I have extensive baking lined up for Christmas (I am making all my Christmas presents this year and will be blogging all about it- sis, don't look!) but I am going to start writing up some my own favourite recipes and hints and tips for the kitchen. Some of this stuff might appeal to students as, mentioned previously, I am currently on the broke side of life and have been cooking quite economically, even sometimes making my own pasta to reduce costs! To be honest, I do make things up quite alot when I am in the kitchen- and some could argue that I don't know what I'm talking about- but that's all part of the fun! I am looking forward to posting all my mishaps as well as my triumphs... So please come back and let me know what you think!
